Speech & Pronunciation

clothes (ths or thes)

Hello!
Could you help me? I have a question about pronunciation. I can't write the special signs of phonetics, so I hope you;ll understand my question. As far as I know we should pronounce the word "clothes" as "clouthz". The question is: "Is there another word alike with "clothes" which is pronounces as "clothez"". I remember my friend corrected me when I said "clothez" and he explained it somehow but I forgot what he meant. So, please, could you helkp me? Thank you!

The word "clothes" is often pronounced exactly like "close", as in "close the door". If you want to pronounce the soft "th", a similar word is "loathes".

I'm sorry, but I can't really tell what pronunciation you mean by "clothez". Can you give us a real word that is pronounced similarly?
