Clothing is definitely an uncountable noun, like all gerunds ( "ing" verbs, shopping, thinking etc. )

Clothes I´m not so sure. Looking around on the net, people seem to be saying it´s countable, but that you can find uses of both. However, I would never say...

"I have 4 clothes."

I would have to say,

"I have 4 articles of clothing," although this sounds very f

Clothes is uncountable ,therefore you have to say how much clothes.
you can say how many pants , or how many shirts, but how much clothes.
the same for other nouns like furniture, how many Chairs or tables, but how much furniture.
you cannot count clothes, I cannot say I have 5 clothes.
on the other hand you csn ask m how many pieces of clothes you are wearing, then it becomes coun
