closing up/off/blocking up/off a window

Hello,
If we decide that a window is no longer necessary, would it be correct to say: " Tomorrow I am going to remove the window frame and close off/up the opening"? I am trying to think of a few verbs that would fit the context. Seal, block and close came to me straight away, but can they be followed by "up"?
- I am going to block up/close up the window opening.

What do you suggest?

Gene93 Seal, block and close came to me straight away, but can they be followed by "up"? Seal or block are acceptable words. "Up" is possible but, unnecessary and therefore wordy.

Close up' is common and natural. I would not use 'wordy 'of a sentence containing one extra two-letter monosyllabic word.

Thank you both. I can't really see any significant difference between "up" and "off" in this context. If closed up/off a doorway, the result would be the same, or at least I think so.
Instead of "to close up a door/window opening", can we simply use "door/window"? As in: We don't need this window anymore, so I am going to close it up tomorrow morning. That sounds a little odd, doesn't it?

In the US the term used is "boarded up," for example: "Several of the windows were boarded up."
