Closing on letters and addressing envelopes

1) When should you use Yours sincerely?
2) When should you use Yours faithfully?
3) How should you address an envelope to a couple ie Mr & Mrs JE Smith or JE & DM Smith?

Top answer

1) You normally use "Yours sincerely" when you start the letter with "Dear Mr Smith" 2) "Yours faithfully" is often used when you start the letter with "Dear Sir or Madam" because you don't know the name of the person that you are writing to. 3) I guess the first option is more correct "Mr & Mrs JE Smith" Hope this helps
