Closed on Monday

I saw the following notice outside a restaurant:

1. We are closed on Mondays for dinner.

I think, what the writer meant was, the restaurant is closed after lunch. Does the notice say that?

That is a reasonable interpretation, though that notice is an odd way to say it.

Thank you very much Mister Micawber and ilas.

Alternatively, could we say,

1. The restaurant is closed on Monday evenings.
2. We don't serve dinner on Mondays.
3. On Mondays, we are open only at lunch.
4. We serve only lunch on Mondays.
?

Or, are there any better ways of saying it?

Yes, there is a better way of saying it. The best way of saying it is "Closed for dinner on Mondays". All the others sound weird and awkward, in addition to not being, like the actual sign is, what is typically on a sign, menu, or website if a restaurant wants to say something specific about their "dinner hours" or "lunch hours" dictated irrationally by management/owners.
