close behind

Is it correct to say that close behind?
The car can't be that close behind. It was way in front 10 seconds ago.

Thanks

"that close behind" is correct. Both your sentences are correct, but I'm not sure that one logically follows the other. You would normally say "The car can't be that close behind" when you expect it to be further behind.
