Clip clopped past

Hello,

What's the meaning of "clip clopped past" in the sentence :"so Pony clip clopped past the horse that was strong."

I know that clip-clop as a noun is a sound that makes a horse when he moves his legs. But what does the whole phrase "clip clopped past" mean?

Could you simplify it/explain it to me?
