Cliches

0 Am I being too talkative around here? Sorry if I am. But anyway, I was just wondering, as I was working and talking with my sister today, I foung myself using many similes and cliches in my speech. (i.e., dry as a bone, hard as a rock, nothing to write home about), do different regions and cultures have use different cliches and similes in everyday language? 02br

It’s an interesting topic. Yes, I think similes are used in every language.

Here are some from Hungary. I tried to translate them world for world and hope they are comprehensible in this way. I wonder whether they exist in English or other languages. I mean, of course, such similes which have the same meaning.

Rare like a white raven.

Grin like a crab apple.
