Clear water vs clean water

Hello!

Could you help me, please?

What is the difference between "clear water" and "clean water"? And when we describe sea water on the beach is it better to say "clear" or "clean"?

Thank you!

clear ~ transparent — You can see through it. clean ~ pure — for example, not contaminated by disease-carrying organisms Given a choice between 'clear' and 'clean', I'd describe sea water as clear even though it's not always clear. CJ
