Can I say,

(a) One day, John's mother was cleaning / cleaning up the house.
(b) She was cleaning / cleaningi up the living room.
(c) She was cleaning / cleaning up the window with a cloth. She wiped it carefully.

We say 'cleaning the windows' but not 'cleaning up the windows'.
