cleaning

I'm looking for a word to describe me cleaning the interior of my car. I don't think a carwash fits the context because I didn't wash it with water. All I did was wipe the interior with a damp cloth and some cleaner, vacuum, and throw away the trash.

I turned out that it was a 3 hour ___.

Thanks.

I'd just say "It turned out it was a 3-hour job". What exactly that "job" was would be described in the broader context.

Actually, it was just an example to give you an idea what I was looking for. I guess it was a poor one.
Let me give it another shot.

I spent 3 hours ___ my car yesterday.

Obviously you don't want to say 'washing'. I can't think of a better word than 'cleaning' for what you're describing.

I thought native speakers would say something else. Cleaning is good. Thanks, Yankee and Philip.

Sometimes you have you car "detailed." That's when you take your car to someone who cleans it completely thoroughly, inside and out, and when you get it back, it's almost like new.
But for a job you do yourself (which I have to do later), I too would just say "cleaning."

Thank you, GG. That's new to me. Happy cleaning!! I cleaned mine yesterday after delaying for months. I was exhausted!
