clean/cleans

Hi,
What's the difference between clean and cleans ?

Top answer

Don't leave a space between the last word and the end punctuation. "clean" can be an adjective, adverb or verb; "cleans" is only a verb. (He)(She)(It) cleans........

Maybe that was your intention, but it was not at all clear in your original question.

As a verb, the difference is that "cleans" corrresponds to the third person singular, while "clean" corresponds to all other subjects.

I clean
you clean
he/she/it cleans

That's a much more interesting question.

Don't worry - I make typing mistakes all the time.

I'd say that "cleanse" means to clean very thoroughly, to completely remove all the dirt or impurties. There is a sense of disinfecting more than just tidying up.

I think it's used less as in intransitive verb than clean. You might talk about a cleansing ritual or cleansing treatm
