clauses of condition

If it rains , they will not come.

If it should rain, they will not come.

Would someone tell me the difference between these two sentences.

Actually when I referred to high school grammar book, I found that the second one is used when we want to convey less probability of rain. But still I asked the question as I have little doubt on it.
