Clauses being part of list-like structure?

Hi. Please tell me if these are correct or not. Please note the underlined parts. For no. 2, I think it would be better if I could reword the underlined part so that the phrase "he wanted to" possibly does not occur more than once, but it is hard for me to do that. Could you help?

1. Today, he went home early so that he can have a long talk with his family at the dinner table, that he can take a long rest, and that he can go to sleep early.

2. His purpose in going home early are that he wanted to have a long talk with his family at the dinner table, that he wanted to take a long rest after the meal, and that he wanted to go to sleep early.

Thank you. Would you help me further? What I was trying to ask was whether it would be correct to separate the phrase "so that" and use only the word "that" to start clauses that follow the one with "so that," thus making them list-like. Would that sentence pattern be correct (or possible?)? I am not sure what I wrote would be clear to you.

eg,
He did it so that he could help him o
