I am confused how can make it a comfortable expression?

"Double standards between “we” and “them” differentiate other cultures and strengthen cultural identity, what precedes in defining a group of people and furthermore, the world system."

In the sentence, I'd like to combine two layers of meanings: "double standards differentiate, strengthen..." and the former " precedes.. "
