I'm not aware that 'introductory clause' has any specific linguistic definition, Guest, so I would suggest that it means merely a clause which begins a sentence, as in:
'Although I forgot my hat, I did not return to the cloakroom.'
'Although I forgot my hat, I did not return to the cloakroom.'
