When do you normally pluralise nouns? For example 'class'.

1. That's right! you're taking Japanese 'class'
or
That's right! you're taking Japanese 'classes'

2. I have Japanese 'class' later today
or
I have Japanese 'classes' later today

If I'm sure how many Japanese classes that person is taking, do I just assume he's only taking one Japanese class?
