"Class of (some year)", Facebook profile

Hi

On Facebook I have seen persons using "Class of (some year)" in their education profile. But it seems not everyone knows how to use that "Class" section correctly. Suppose someone started his four-year degree in 2001 and graduated in 2005. Then, would it be class of 2001 or 2005? Actually I know of two persons who graduated the same year but one says 2002 and the other 2005 - it was a four-year qualification starting in 2002.

Please tell me which one is correct. Thanks a lot.

Class of 2005. Your class is your year of graduation. 'Class' is short for 'graduating class'.

As far as I know [in US] the number is the year of graduation, not of matriculation.
