Class 4

"Class 4, Matter, 1. Matter in General" is the title of an artwork by Joseph Kosuth which can be viewed on the cover of https://www.amazon.com/Joseph-Kosuth-Re-defining-Context-Investigation/dp/1907317848. Do you think "class 4" in this title mean "group 4 (in a classification)"?

Maybe, but I read it as some sort of listing from a school, class number 4, the title of which is "Matter", and the first session is "Matter in General". It hardly matters, though, no pun intended. He just wants to make us think.
