Clarity of vision/enhance concentration

Hi

I have two questions regarding the passage below:

As its name tells, eyebright is one of the best plants to drink as an infusion or to use as an eye wash to cure eye diseases, as it reduces inflammation. By analogy, some believe that a person can drink the tea to produce clarity of vision when endeavoring to enhance concentration.

Does it say that it's best to drink as an infusion because drinking infusion cures eye diseases? Or does drinking this infusion doesn't have anything to do with curing eye diseases?

Does it say that when somebody's trying to concentrate better drinking the tea will improve his vision? (I'm not sure it's 100% clear to me)

Thanks

Because the whole of the first sentence is framed by "As its name tells ... as it reduces inflammation", I believe the intention is that "to cure eye diseases" should apply to both "drink as an infusion" and "use as an eye wash". I don't find the second sentence very clear.

  • Because the whole of the first sentence is framed by "As its name tells ...
  • as it reduces inflammation", I believe the intention is that "to cure eye diseases" should apply to both "drink as an infusion" and "use as an eye wash".
  • I don't find the second sentence very clear.
  • As it appears to be trying to make a different but analogous point, my guess is that "clarity of vision" is supposed to refer to mental sharpness.

Hi

So in your opinion it is saying that the tea improves mental sharpness when we're trying to concentrate?

Actually, I'm beginning to doubt it. I don't understand the purpose of "by analogy".

Hi. Thanks for the answer.

And if you omit the word "by analogy" is it clearer then to you?

It's still not completely clear.
