"Clarifying the problem"

Hi

"Thank you very much for the information and for clarifying the problem."
Is it correct, or should I write "...for clarify the problem" ?

Use this one. The only verb form possible after a preposition (like for) is the -ing form.

Thanks... but what's the difference when an action is still in progress and when it's not ?
Are those examples correct ?

My computer has been repaired by a friend:
"Thank you for repairing my computer."

A friend is repairing (now) my computer:
"Thank you that you are repairing my computer"

No difference. 'Repairing' is a noun; it has no tense:

My computer has been repaired by a friend: "Thank you for repairing my computer."
A friend is repairing (now) my computer: "Thank you for repairing my computer"
A friend is going to repair (tomorrow) my computer: "Thank you for repairing my computer"

Thanks.
Now, I understand it. However, it's strange for a Polish speaking person like me Emotion: wink.
