AnonymousThanks. Could you tell me please what other characteristics are there between city and town?
The other characteristics are just those you might expect, and I'm sure you can work that out for yourself.

There are more people in a city. There are more businesses in a city. There are more buildings in a city. A city has more land than a town.

It's not a problem. You're welcome.

Have you thought of any more characteristics you can add?

There's no simple answer. A lot depends on local and national nomenclature and civic status.

The town of Reading, UK, has a population of 161,000.

Everglades City, Florida, has a population of 400.

In the UK, a city was traditionally a place with a cathedral. The smallest UK city by this definition is St Davids in Wales, with about 2,000 people. Most cities are of course much larger. City status can now be granted by the Queen.
