Circa

Hello,

I read this on a site where you can download books in the public domain earlier today:

The Odyssey
By Omer
Circa 600 BC

I was wondering, can I also put 'circa' after the date – 600 BC circa? Do you also abbreviate it as 'ca.'– Ca. 600 BC?

Thank you
H.

It sounds odd that way. I've always heard "circa" before the number.

OK. Thanks.
Can I ask about the abbreviation? Is "ca." used in English?

It's possible. I use just c.
