Every Sunday, one church has a lot of volunteers who cook food and give it people in my neighborhood. I told my new non-native English speaking neighbor about that. We learn English from each other. This is what I said to him.
(1) I said, "I like the church-cooked food more than home-cooked food because it's delicious."
He rephrased my sentence as given below.
(2) He said, "You like the food you get from the church more than the food you get from your home."
He said that his sentence was better. Do you think my sentence (1) is grammatically wrong? Please give me your opinion. Thanks a lot.
" Both are correct. The first one (yours) may be slightly less idiomatic, but not strongly so. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
