I haven't found it in the dictionary, but, seeing the different meanings of "chuck", it can mean quite a lot of things!!! [v] eject the contents of the stomach through the mouth; "After drinking too much, the students vomited"; "He purged continuously"; "The patient regurgitated the food we gave him last night" [v] pat or squeeze fondly or playfully, esp. under the chin [v] throw carelessly; "chuck the ball" [v] throw away (slang); "Chuck these old notes"

I haven't watched either one of them. Are they horror movies?

Come to think of it, I did watch bits and pieces of Chucky 1 on TV. It's just a cute little toy murderer.

Yes they are, lots of hemoglobin/ketchup - I haven't watched them either, just hear say...
A cute toy murderer, uh? lol

"Chucky" is a character in a horror movie, I believe. It depends upon the film, and where it was made. "Chuck" or "Chucky" is a north west English expression of affection. (I think it derives from "chicken", as "chucky hen" is a dialect term for hen.)

HI Abbie,

Thanks for the info.

One question, though.
When you say Northwest, do you mean NW England?

Thanks!

In the U.S. "Chuck" (or "Chucky") is sometimes a nickname for Charles.

I agree with khoff in regards to the origin of "Chucky" (just think of Peppermint Patty calling Charlie Brown 'Chuck' all the time, for those of you familiar with the Peanuts Gang).

Chucky the doll is the villian in the "Child's Play" movies. He is supposed to possessed by a serial killer and goes on murderous rampages.
