You may remember that Christian Bale went nuts on the set of "Terminator Salvation," a few months back, threatening to stop production and beat some serious ass.
The incident was audiotaped, and it's amazing. It happened on the set after a director of photography accidentally ruined a scene by walking onto the set. Bale lost it, screaming, yelling and threatening to quit if the bosses didn't fire the dude.
Film execs sent the tape to the insurance company that insured the film in case Bale bailed.

Just like a marriage, the arguement is never about what it's about. What was the problem on the set before this happened? Something that was happening every day. Then this happens and he snaps.

But the other thing is - this is a film set. All kinds of crazy stress. People snap.

I try to avoid TMZ, being the creepy and loathesome, bottom-feeding site it is, but this is just *** awesome. We are never funnier than when we're angry, and our obliviousness to that in our rage is one of the funniest things about it.

Now when I go off on a tirade, it's sortof quiet and mumbled, most unclear. Usually I just become
silent and try to fade into the woodwork. And he got headlines. I'm just totally envious.

I only respect actors like the esteemed Samuel Jackson, who do this kind of thing on camera, so much more refined.

Gotta say, it wasn't that much of a meltdown. I've heard actors (and others) seriously GO OFF before - really screaming, yelling, gnashing of teeth, unable to form complete sentences or even words. This was very angry, sure (I can't help but wonder what actually lead up to it) but it really was pretty close to polite.

I have to say, if I have a tirade, it's pretty quiet. I love bad words, but never use them if I have a point to make. And this little hissy fit wasn't bad, but it was pretty funny to hear American Pscho go, well...
When I get mad I get all super-articulate and relaxed - goal-oriented; you jump around angry, I want to fix the sitch. I yell too, but no bad words; I save them for family and friends. Yeah, it gets cold reeally fast. But I've seen enough tantrums to know, this one wasn't big league material. Sold real estate and done radio news - this was nuthin.

Kinski is always classic for his sheer bizarreness, but I don't see anything wrong with any of these "meltdowns." I'm on the side of the meltdowners, who are trying to do their job well and must put up with screwballs interfering. You wouldn't come up and dust the piano while a concert pianist is trying to perform. Good for Christian Bale to give the DP the business. If I were Shane Hurlbut, I'd learn to set the lights and then leave them alone.
