Choosing the words

Apparently, I and my friends are discussing about choosing slogan for a knowledge competition.
The first one is: come to life, come to knowledge.
The second: Challenge your brain, dare your friends.

They insist that the first one doesn't have the appropriate meaning. However, I think it's quiet good.
What do you think? If choosing the second one, what word(s) can we replace for the word "dare". I think it's not impressive.

I think both of your suggestions would work, depending on the intended group. However, I would suggest that you follow the general courtesy in writing of "My friends and I" instead of beginning with "I".
