Hi all! Please advice books for learning English for Russian 8-9 years old girl. She doesn't know the language at all. But her mama said that the aim is to start talking in English rather than learning all this grammar rules , tables etc
My personal opinion is that it is impossible to learn how to speak a language from books. If the aim is for her to "start talking in English", it would be better for her to get practical conversational tuition, preferably from native or native-level speakers.

First, an alphabet book is best. It will teach the letters and sounds, and give some basic vocabulary. A picture book (with an audio CD) for young children would be next. Choose a subject that she is interested in. This is the way that our young children learn the language. They don't learn anything about grammar until much later!
