Choice - is or are

Which is the correct sentence? I'm certain it's A but many others disagree.

A. A choice of toppings is available from the shop.

B. A choice of toppings are available from the shop.

Thanks fivejedjon, I was amazed at how many people thought it should be B. I wonder if anyone here thinks it should be B? ;-)

I would expect to hear a lot of people saying B. It doesn't appear to me to be very important, unless you are taking an examination. Personally, I see little point in penalising learners for something that is natural for many native speakers.
