Choice but wear

I would throw away all the old dresses that I had no other choice but wear,

Is it correct? For me, it sounds a little awkward. Should I write "no any other" instead.
I want to mean that she has been poor and all her life she has been forced to wear old skirts, blouses, etc.
Now she has some money and her wish is to discard all her old wardrobe.

no (other) choice but to wear "no any other" is ungrammatical. It is not clear that "had no other choice" refers to a time before "throw away", which makes the sentence seem contradictory (seems as if she is throwing away things that she still needs). However, I am not certain what to suggest in its place as I do not understand the overall temporal context.

I will try to explain the temporal context, GPY.

In the past: She was poor. She had to wear old skirts, old blouses, etc. She didn't have any other choice.
Present time: She has some money, but she isn't rich yet.
Present time: She expresses her wishes using the conditional (I would throw away--). She thinks that if she continues making money, she will be able to throw aw
