Which sounds idiomatic?

"The day started well with chirping birds and a nice breakfast."

This sounds better though, because it maintains parallelism.

Either "birds chirping" or "chirping birds" is okay grammatically. However, everything all depends on the context. This would be okay, if the chirping of birds is something that is expected to be mentioned here. Otherwise, the sentence is awkward, as the chirping of birds and a nice breakfast are items that usually would have no relation to each other. As it stands, I would say that the sentenc
