Chinglish and Mobile

Is "Chin" in "Chinglish" pronounced as in "Chinese" or as in "chin"?

Is "ile" in the word "mobile" in American English pronounced as in "bile" or as in "bill"? (when the reference is to a cell phone)

Thanks in advance

I can't address "Chinglish" because I've never heard it said. In American English (at least, where I live), you'd say it more like "bull" for mobile. MObull.

  • MObull.
  • But we don't really call them mobile phones - we call them cell phones.

Hi,

Is "Chin" in "Chinglish" pronounced as in "Chinese" or as in "chin"? Neither. It's pronounced like 'ping', as in ping-pong. Or you could say it's pronounced like the 'Eng' in the word 'English', since it means 'Chinese English'.

I suppose you were referring to the pronunciation of the letter "i". It's pronounced as in "chin".

Mobile - both pronunciations are correct.

Best wishes
