"Child's play" or "a child's play"

Hi

Should I use "a" before child's play?

I would like to know if the presence or absence of this "a" grate on your native ears.

Repairing the camera was a child's play for him.

Thanks,

Tom

No, we don't use the indefinite article here.

Repairing the camera was child's play for him.

Bear in mind, though, that that doesn't follow for all phrases with the same meaning: Repairing the camera was a piece of cake.
