Essay & Composition Writing

Children's education is expensive. In some countries, the government pays some or all of the costs. Do the advantages outweigh its disadvantages?

Please kindly help with my below essay, thanks a lot:

"The cost to educate children is sometimes out of their family’ budgets. While I accept that the government’ subsidy to cover all schooling fees may have some negative effects on the country’s economy and society, I believe that there are likely to have more beneficial impacts.

On the one hand, there are some compelling reasons to explain why the full tuition for children paid by government would have adverse effects on the economy and society as a whole. First of all, there are urgent social issues which governmental authorities should make priority over education such as environmental pollution and poverty. If government cover all the cost for schooling fee, they must impose spending cuts on other important areas. Secondly, free education may discourage parents from working hard because they are free from the burden school fees of their offspring. As consequence, the productivity of labor force may suffer from that attitudes.

On the other hand, I would argue that these drawbacks are outweighed by the benefits. There is a foreseeable future: If a substantial amount of money is pumped into education by the government, not only children from underprivileged families but ambitious youngsters who want to pursue higher education will easily access to a better education. Therefore in the long run, the workforce will reach a higher level of quality and this in turn will improve the standard of living. Moreover, a well educated generation will result in talented scientists and CEO who will solve other problems in current circumstances.

In conclusion, it seems to me that the advantages of the government’s full subsidy for children tuition are more significant than the possible drawbacks"
