Chief doctor?

Hello.
How do you call a person who I only can call a 'chief doctor'. I mean a person who leads a hospital, kind of a president in a company. Is there any special words?

Thank you and I'm terribly sorry for my English.

I think that is the term used in a translation of The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. But see here: ---- The chief of staff position was traditionally a hospital's "chief doctor" or "doctor's doctor" but has evolved into more of an administrative position providing oversight for physician credentialing , admitting privileges and insuring regulatory compliance. The UConn Health System represents clinical enterprises at the UConn Health Center , including the faculty practice, satellite family practices in Simsbury and Bloomfield, and the John Dempsey Hospital.

The right term is either cheif physician or head physician. A physician is a doctorEmotion: smile but you probably already understood that.
