Chicks on the window

Hi

The word (wooden) chicks is so common in India/Pakistan that it is frequently used in articles, stories, etc.

Is the word chicks familiar to native speakers also? Or blind is the term they would use for this kind of thing?

May I ask if you checked the links? Aren't the Google hits surprising?
