Vocabulary

chicken tracks

Hallo,
can anybody explain me the exact meaning of the expression
"chicken tracks". I found this in a John Wayne-western.
The sentence is:
"I'll rub out your chicken tracks and work them over."

Thank you

'Poor penmanship'. Mattie is belabouring Rooster for his sloppy handwriting. It is made clear from the previous sentence:

But your handwriting wanders into places it should not go. I'll rub out your chicken tracks and work them over.

Thanks to both of you,

I thought it would mean something like that but didn't find it. You're right. The context is mighty obvious.
In German we say "Sauklaue" ("pig paw").
I only found "scrawl" for this.
