Vocabulary

Chicken noodle

Hi! Please, help me with the meaning of this expression.

In a recipe for Chicken and Veggie Chowder I found this sentence:

Move over, chicken noodle! A puree of favourite vegetables thickens this sensational chowder.

What or, should I say, who would be the chicken noodle here?

Hi Antonia, Is chicken noodle also included in the recipe? If not, it means that there is no need of chicken noodle to thicken the chowder, the vegetables do the task. Cheers,

No, No! There is not a type of noodle called "chicken noodle", and it does not refer to a person. It is short for "chicken noodle soup," which is a very common type of soup in the U.S. I think the sentence means, "Stand aside, Chicken Noodle Soup -- make room for a new soup that might be even more popular!"

interesting, because uaually chicken noodle soup is not thickened. It is essentially chicken stock (in Ame "chicke broth") with noodles in.

Recipe here.

I think Khoff is right, and presumably again this is better for SB diet followers

I think Khoff is right,
This sentence is in the beginning of the recipe, and it is supposed to be sth like funny introduction.
Thank you all
