(chess)blaze

Hi.
What's the difference between blazing a trail to the enemy king and clearing the way to the king?

Top answer

To blaze a trail means to make your way into unexplored territory so that others may follow. I don't see how you can do that in a chess game. To clear the way to the King would be to remove any obstacles in the path to the King, and that you can do.

does it mean 'pave a way towards.....'?

I do not see a different definition there. It's a figure of speech or it is literal. Literally, it means to mark trees with an axe as you go. Either way, you can't do it in a chess game. If you want to use "pave", I think it's better as, "pave the way to the King", but I don't think that's what he meant. Also, I don't think you can prepare a way toward anything. the first definition, the literary one, read make and mark a path. By prepare a way I meant make it ready for use.I don't know how you can cut a way

Cut a path, not cut a way, like with a machete.
