Chemical composition of oil



Oil is sticky, oily liquid, of brown-greenish colour. According to its chemical composition it is a very complex mixture/compound made of several thousands various hydrocarbon compounds. They can be distinguished by the way they mutually tie carbon atoms and by its saturation with hydrogen. I thought the word 'viscous' would be a better alternative than 'sticky'. Especially as your speaking of oil in general terms.

Squeaky, I have noticed that the author uses both terms separately 'viscous' and 'sticky'. I guess they mean more or less the same.

Viscous (thick and sticky), according to my Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary..
