Dear Teachers,

1. - I think this marker is running out of ink.

2. Whose seat is that / this? It's John's seat / It's John's

- Are 1 & 2 natural?

3. "cheer up!" and "be happy!"

- Are these the same meaning? and which one is more common?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

If you see your friend looking sad, you may say "Hey, cheer up!" I don't think that "Be happy" sounds natural unless you're singing that song ("Don't worry, be happy!")

or you're in a place where you gathered with your friends and the conversation is not so well and you call one of your friend and say "hey Alice, come here and cheer us up" like that.
