Which of the following sentences is correct?

1) Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein reportedly checked into rehab for sex addiction.

2) Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein reportedly checked himself into rehab for sex addiction.

If both are possible, do they have the same meaning?

If so, which would you use?
