Check this Sentence

He has the ability to affect the outcome, but he is not likely to take that chance.

affect or effect?

Also should i use liable instead of likely?

Top answer

Hi Cute572 You should use "affect", which means "have an influence on". The word "effect" is usually used as a noun, and it doesn't work as a verb in your sentence. You could use either "likely" or "liable".
