The Great Britain is the sovereign state that occupies the major part of British Isles the group of islands off the northwest coast of continental Europe that include the islands of Great Britain and Ireland and over six thousand smaller ones.
As for the UK the border of it is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea apart of the the Northern Ireland which shares a land border with another sovereign state - the Republic of Ireland. The United Kingdom is a unitary state governed under a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary system. Supreme legislative power is vested in two-chamber parliament, which sits for five years unless dissolved sooner.
As UK is constitutional monarchy any bill passed requires Royal Assent to become law but in fact it is just a tribute to the traditions. The executive power is exercised by the cabinet headed by the prime minister, elected by the majority of the House of Commons. The prime minister and cabinet are also formally appointed by the monarch to from Her Majesty's (HM) Government, though the prime minister chooses the cabinet and, by convention, HM The Queen respects the prime minister's choices.
The capital city of UK is London. It is a leading global city in many fields, for instance, it is the most populous municipality in the European Union and the world's largest financial center alongside New York. London not only the capital of United Kingdom is is also the capital of England, one of the four countries United Kingdom consists of. Other three countries are: Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The four countries which are constituent parts of UK have certain autonomy and collectively referred to as the Home Nations. So that there are also three devolved national administrations, situated in the capitals of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively, but they play not so important role as the main administration does.
The UK have no single legal system since it was created by the political union of previously independent countries, with the Treaty of Union guaranteeing the continued existence of Scotland's separate legal system. Today the UK has three distinct systems of law: English law, Northern Ireland law and Scots law.
The UK has a temperate climate, with plentiful rainfall all year around. The prevailing wind is from the south-west and bears frequent spells of mild and wet weather from the Atlantic Ocean. Snowfalls occur rarely, mainly(?) in winter and early spring. The climate of UK is influenced both by the Ocean and by the western seaboard of Eurasia, the world's largest land mass. So that the frequent pressure, humidity and temperature variations caused by the convergence between moist maritime air and dry continental air take place that creates instability which causes weather to change many times a single day (??? It seems to me that it isn't correct at all...???).
