Check this definition

Hello!!
Is there a situation where this definition of a simple sentence does NOT work??

"A simple sentence is a sentence with a single finite verb."

please let me know if you think this definition is the ultimate definition and can not be attacked by any linguist from any angle.

Thank you in advance

I think that there is no such thing as the 'ultimate' definition or one that 'cannot be attacked by any linguist from any angle'. Many linguists consider 'Ready?' a simple sentence.

Mr Micawber,

Glad that you are still around. You answered a number of my questions that have immensly helped me.

By the way,

if they consider 'ready?' a sentence, then in that case too the hidden finite verb is 'are', 'is' or any of the finite from of the the verb 'be' with the hidden subject.

Am I correct?
