Hi. Are these correct?

If nos 1 and 2 are correct. Then, for nos. 1 and 2, what do you call the underlined parts? Adverbials of some kind?

For no. 3, do you think it is in good style (correct?) to use a past perfect tense in an adverbial clause (I think it is an adverbial clause) when the order of things seems to clear without it?

For nos. 4 and 5, assuming these are comprehension questions for a story, would you say the present tenses are correct (with the past tense for the underlined parts)? I am sorry but could you answer this, too? Do you think using both present and past tenses for comprehension questions for a story is good style (perhaps, incorrect??)?

1. Where there was lack of zeal, now there is a great passion for study.

2. Now that he has grown up, I feel he is ready for the challenge.

3. After he had done that, did he proceed to do the next task?

4. Does he do what he was asked to?

5. What does he do when he was asked to do his homework?

In asking these sorts of comprehension questions about a previously-read text, either tense seems fine and natural to me; but for good style, don't mix them within the same question set.
