Firstly, Ms. Nicole helped students learn and remember by applying attention in the classroom. She cared for paying students attention in her and other teachers lessons. Ms. Nicole could attract students’ attention by her methods. She called student who was inattentive and presented punishment if the student was still inattentive. For example, , she said “Louin if you do not sit quietly, I will call your mother”. This presenting punishment was working with that child. The teacher applied many strategies to attract students’ attention by “cooperative problem solving activities, presenting unusual or puzzling phenomena” ( Ormrod, 2008, p41). She did that by playing a game, and competitions in groups. One day, the teacher presented a game in touch board that related to the lesson practice and another day she attracted students’ s attention by singing. I think that children love sings and story. They easy to be inattentive if the way of presenting was usual. Also, the teacher got students’ attention by avoiding presenting too much information in class. According to Ormrod (2008, p41), “students have only limited ‘space’ in their working memories”. This means that the teacher should keep this point in mind if she wants to get student’s attention. These steps or strategies were very effective in classroom where I observed.
