Check my opinion please

Hi ,dear friends

Would you please correct me if I am wrong about this structure"get+p.p"?
1.Is get speech form of "be" in passive structure?

Ex:A. Are you studying still? it's 2 o'clock in the morning.
B.I know I just can't seem to get them cut up.

What's the meaning for "cut up" here?
cut up:1.to behave in a playful,comic, or boisterous way,clown.
2.to criticize severely.

So (Get them cut up) :The student doesn't want to be criticized by other or maybe be made fun of .
I think Get + P.P is the same as (Am,is,are)in passive structure.

Thanks in advance

1. It is a sort of 'passive' formation, but it is better think of 'get' as what they call the 'resulting copula', since it is difficult to assign an agent, and 'cut up' serves for a predicate adjective as much as it does for a participle. 2.

  • I need more context before I can guess what the verb means here.
  • Nothing even suggests what 'them' might be.

B.I know I just can't seem to get them cut up.

Do you mean this, by chance?

- Are you still studying? It's 2 o'clock in the morning.
- I know. I just can't seem to get caught up.

What do you mean by resulting copula?

A copula is a linking verb. 'Resulting' means that it indicates the result of the action, I suppose.

First, I get tired, then I am tired. 'Tired' is the result' of 'get', while 'tired' is the current condition of 'tired'.

"since it is difficult to assign an agent, and 'cut up' serves for a predicate adjective as much as it does for a participle."

So you mean it is "Passive infinitive" .
"Them' is nothing to do with passive structure in this case,"Them" is additional & wrong.
Is this line of thinking wrong?Hope I wasn't so stupid to make you mad.

Hi,

Ex:A. Are you studying still? it's 2 o'clock in the morning.
B.I know I just can't seem to get them cut up.

The pink words make no sense here. I wonder if they should be ''get caught up'

Yes buddy, I misheard. But I have a question from my mistake

In a sense of criticizing with passive formation could it be? :Is this line of thinking wrong?

I just can't seem to get cut up by them.

Thanks in advance
