Hi Andrew,

I'm glad I can help you with your project on friendship. You ask why I consider friendship important. Well, I believe friends help me deal with stress, make better lifestyle choices and feel more confident. Having no friends would leave me feeling lonely and without support.

I think friends play an important role at every stage of our lives, but if I was OK having very few friends when I was a preschooler, it was certainly different when I started school. For any schoolkid it is very important to have friends (I mean good, reliable friends) in school, especially high school.

You also ask me what qualities I consider desirable in a friend. I could give you a long list of them, but the most important qualities are trustworthiness, honesty, empathy, ability to listen and offer support. Perhaps, being fun is important too - we all like people with a good sense of humour.
