Some people say that in our modern age, it is unnecessary to teach children about the skills of handwriting. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Handwriting and reading are the integral part for obtaining education. Some people believe that it is not important for children to learn writing skills in their life, as their modern world demand more work on the computer rather than the traditional way of maintaining file. I totally disagree with this view, as writing is an important view of communication and learning things much faster for youngsters.

When children write something by hand, it is more likely that they will learn better. While, it is easy to make notes on digital devices, such as computers and laptops but pupils cannot learn it properly. This is because when someone is writing hand and eye-coordination makes it easier for their brain to learn properly. According to a recent study, pupils, for instance, perform better in paper-based exams rather than online exams. The reason is they can read material accurately and it is easy for them to remember.

The other reason is, handwriting improve their cognitive skill and make them to learn their vocabulary and spelling mistakes. Those students who rely on computer for long hours, spending too much time on blue screen gadgets, they would damage their eyesight and cannot find their flaws. Because there is an automation system in digital devices, which can bring off from inaccuracy. To illustrate, the University of London reported that the young people are prone to make spelling mistake in exam-paper as 85% of students using computer for preparing notes. That happens due to spell checker in the computer would help children to reduce their mistakes but they would not be able to learn.

To conclude, despite the modern technology, the handwriting still holds the higher heights. It is the duty of parents and teachers to encourage them to write to express their ideas, thoughts and feelings in a better way.
